Here’s a fun game we’ve played in Super Kidz Church.
The idea is that you use an air cannon that you can build from the video below and have the kids shoot cups either off people’s heads or off a table, etc. I personally used it to talk about how something we can’t see(like air and God’s Spirit) can move on things we can see. We just need to put ourselves in the right position to feel it and see it in action. I’ll have to post video of it next time we use our air cannon again, but we created the larger trashcan sized versions and used a smoke machine to do it.
How we played the game:
– hand out plastic or styrofoam cups before the game starts to the first two rows in each section. Split the room in half.
– have kids in front rows put cups on their heads
– demonstrate how the air though you can’t see it, can knock a cup down.
– show how you are going to make it easier for them by filling the air cannon with smoke so they can aim better, but it’s still the air doing the work.
Get two teams of kids. 1 adult per team.
Put 30 seconds to 1 minute on the timer.
Have all kids count from 10 seconds to 0 to let teams know when to start.
Have 2 adults per section count how many cups were knocked off.
Which ever team gets the most cups knocked off, wins.
Here’s the Steve Spangler video we were inspired by:
You can also watch it right here on this page, and just fast forward to 4 minutes and 16 seconds into it, or just watch the whole thing 🙂
