There are many experiments that you can do with eggs. This one is pretty amazing. How will you make an egg slip inside a narrow-mouthed bottle without pushing it? Here’s how.
You need:
- A hard-boiled egg
- Hot water
- A glass bottle with a narrow mouth
First, peel the egg shells. Pour the hot water on the bottle, let it stay for 30 seconds then drain it. Place the peeled egg on top of the bottle and wait for it to slowly drop. You will hear popping noises as the egg slowly slips in the bottle.
The egg will slip into the bottle when the air inside the bottle cools down which decreases the air pressure inside. When the air pressure outside is greater that the air pressure inside the bottle, then the former will push the egg down. The power of air pressure!
