I think people count themselves out of things far too easily. Especially people who say they are “too old” for Sunday School and that they aren’t hip and cool or whatever. Kids need all kinds of people to help them be who God wants them to be. There is a specific guy I’m thinking of as I write this. His name is Gary. He is everyone’s grandpa. Kids, years after graduating from his class will come back to visit him, sometimes to tell him a memory verse to get some taki’s or hot cheetos but mostly just to get to say hi. He’s a giant teddy bear that the kids feel safe around. He’s not alone. Just because he isn’t a tech and special effects master, that doesn’t remotely take away from the impact he’s had on kids. Kids need all kinds of teachers in their lives. If there’s someone who you know that is down on themselves because they feel “past their prime” in kidmin, please let them know that:
Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.
